Independent theatre has a new home in the inner west.

Call for Submissions: December 2004 – June 2005

Newtown Theatre Company (producers of Short & Sweet) has recently moved to The Edge and is calling for submissions by Australian theatre makers for the period Nov 2004 until June 2005.

The move has meant a major refurbishment of the venue with the creation of a large foyer area and licenced bar often featuring pre and post show entertainment.

Technical improvements include: three phase power, air conditioning, fixed seating, backstage area, new (paintable) stage area (50 sq metres).

The venue is centrally located on the corner of King & Bray Streets, Newtown, 200 metres north of St Peters Station with free parking for over 200 cars at the Sydney Park Brickworks only 300 metres away.

Expert technical advice is available for all productions

Newtown and the rest of inner west is home to a large population of theatre goers. In-house marketing and ticketing support will also be supplied to all companies.

Please include a description of the work including author and cast breakdown. Brief biographies of the Director, Cast and Creative team may also be included.

While there are no restictions placed on the type of works submitted we encourage home-grown theatre where possible or innovative productions of more traditional or international plays.

The deadline for submissions is July 15.
